Regione Piemonte regulations for guest accommodation
Are you booking registered tourist accommodation? Beware of non registered accommodation being offered on the internet, it is illegal to stay in unauthorised tourist accommodation in Italy.
By law all tourist accommodation must be registered and approved by the local authorities. This is true for all types of accommodations and visitors are urged to ensure that they only book with properly authorised properties. This will protect both your consumer rights and your peace of mind when it comes to the possible health and safety issues related to overseas holiday accommodation.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION
As a minimum registered accommodation will have been inspected by the local authorities and a representative of the local health services to ensure that the accommodation and working practices are:
- Of acceptable standard and comply with building regulations for guest accommodation
- Are appropriate for tourist accommodation
- Meet stringent hygiene regulations
- that working practices meet guidelines for cleanliness and food handling
- Prices are registered and regulated
- The premises are safe and are insured for accommodation of paying guests
- where food is offered, that the premises are licensed and inspected for the sale and serving of meals

Authorised premises will always display their certification and tariffs in their reception or other public place.

By law all guests must be given, and must complete a registration of stay - these are inspected by the local police.

Guests should receive an appropriate receipt for payment of their accommodation charges.
These rules apply equally to B&B, hotel and Agritourismo accommodation as well as all other tourist accommodation categories. Hotel accommodation has further more stringent regulations related to health and safety, fire detection and prevention and provision of access for the disabled.
