Special events in Piedmont in October/November
(Truffles, Truffle fairs, Wine Harvest Festivals)
Piedmont (Piemonte) is the home of the famed white truffle (it is also possible to find many examples of the more common black truffle). In Piedmont the truffelo prefers to use a dog to sniff out the burried treasure.
This year the growing conditions are ideal, we have had a cool September and a very wet summer. Truffles have been appearing iin markets and resaurants for a few weeks. As Autumn gets into full swing so do the special events and fairs to celebrate truffle season and at the same time the wine harvest.
The following list details main events in the provinces of Asti (AT), Cuneo (CN) and Alessandria (AL) Festivals marked with an asterisk* are significant Truffle Fairs (Fiere Nazionali) or Giornata del Tartufo, which indicate a local festival day in which truffles are part of the whole event.
